When someone tells you that kids are to young to be taught, I give you permission to laugh in their face. I know from personal experience kids can be taught something when they can communicate with you. The communication does not have to be verbal, but action.
A child can be taught not to litter when they can hold something in their hands. It is a matter of how you communicate this action to a child. I believe the so call grow up just does not want to be bothered. Well it takes more energy to correct a bad habit than to learn a good one from the start.
I know of a 2 year old that is speaking English and Spanish.
It is all in how much effort the parent wants to make in teaching a child.
With the correct positive approach the child will want to learn and learn and learn.
There will be no limit to what a child can accomplish when he or she is older and how they will impact someone's life.

Common Sense
We had 3 questions asked today which the answer to me should have been obvious.
-If the wind is blowing south and you launch a hot air balloon, which way would the balloon travel?
-Would a light color vehicle be cooler in the summer than a black one?
-When a glider is towed up to altitude by a tow plane and released will it hook back up to the tow plane before landing?
Now I know I am not the smartest kid on the block but really...

Old Coot
We were talking with another RV'er who is up here visiting his relatives and his mom.
He mentioned his sister and her husband added a suite to their house for their mom to live in. He said his mom is 93 years old and still active in blowing. She took the carpet up in one of her rooms but couldn't get the staples out of the floor. He told his mom he would do it for her but like most children never get around to doing it. So when they were out with friends she shamed him into coming over and taking care of it. We thought, tough old lady! Good for her. Now he is in his 70's and here his mother is 93 and still going strong. I am truly happy to hear older people are still getting out and enjoying themselves and not seeing themselves as old.

Nice Ladies
It has been a privilege to meet several very nice ladies here at the RV park in Bath NY.
The friendship of Diane, Judy, Barbara, Elaine & Mary are simply very warm and open. Their husbands are nice as well. We have had some good times sitting around talking at the ice cream social or around the camp fire. It has been a welcome treat to meet such nice ladies. All of them at one time or the other has worked camped here. A few come back each year simply because it is a nice area and the people are so friendly.

Bike Ride
We had one of the best bicycle rides today. We rode for 3 1/2 hours breaking for a picnic lunch and a few rest stops. The ride took us 15 miles from Millport through woods and along side a canal to Watkins Glen. Yes, the place we hiked the gorge a few weeks ago. The path was easy with a slight incline coming back. Now don't think we are not tired, It was not a ride which caused heavy breathing. I don't think we should tell our rear ends that it was fun. It takes a little more effort to walk for a day or so! Kris has realized with my body getting back in gear we made need to upgrade our bikes from casual riding to a little something on the more serious side. Now I wonder what gave him idea like this!

Singing bird
There is a camper here in Bath, NY that has a Africa Gray-red tail Parrot. Rainbow sits most of the day on the shoulder of her owner. It was a pleasure speaking to the owner and listening to the Rainbow sing and talk. There was someone walking their dog and the Rainbow said "puppy dog". Then the Rainbow talked like Donald Duck and was singing How much is that doggy in the window and . Then she made a sound like fireworks going off and then made the sound as they busted open. It was so much fun to listen to her. The owner never coached her to do anything. She just did things at random. She said monster! He has been calling her a monster since she graps his nose with her beak and pecks his ear, of course no pain, just all in fun. The owner said he has had her from the time she hatched out of the egg.
